Oscar-winner composer Allahrakka Rahman to attend FIff

Music composer of ‘Muhammad (PBUH): The Messenger of God’ is to attend the 36th FIff.

Indian music composer of the Iranian biopic ‘Muhammad (PBUH): The Messenger of God’, Allahrakka Rahman, has been set to take part at the 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIff) in Tehran.

The Indian composer will hold a workshop on music in film during the FIff on April 24, 2018.

The Oscar-winner musician who has worked with the acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi in ‘Muhammad (PBUH): The Messenger of God’, has already been in Iran for an international film festival for children in Hamedan.

Rahman is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician and philanthropist. His works are noted for integrating Indian classical music with electronic music, world music and traditional orchestral arrangements.

Among his awards are six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, fifteen Filmfare Awards and sixteen Filmfare Awards South.

In 2009, Rahman was included on the Time 100 list of the world's most influential people.

‘Muhammad (PBUH): The Messenger of God’ portrays the life of Islam’s Holy Prophet and narrates the early years of his prophecy in Mecca. This is the first part of a trilogy which aims to cover the whole life of the Prophet.

Established in 1982, the FIff celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

Directed by Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th FIff has been slated for April 19-27, 2018, in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
